Question
Hi Ron
I havae a full grown Oscar I think-it's about 5yrs old--at least 8"    long and 4" thick.  I feed him worms, crickets, grasshoppers & goldfish.  All but goldfish are only when in season.  I give him 3 med goldfish a day & bread chunks.  Is that enough or should he be getting more nourishment.?  He shares a 55 gal tank with a 13" plecowho keeps it clean.
thx,
Ang

Answer
Hi Ang,
The worms, crickets and grasshoppers are great.  I do not ever feed live goldfish because all too often goldfish carry diseases like ick which transfer to the oscar.  I get many messages a week from people whose oscars become sick (or worse) from eating goldfish.  Also, I wouldn't feed bread to a fish.
You might consider one of the larger pellet foods, e.g. TetraCichlid Sticks or one of the other products.
