Guppy pregnancy and babies

Question
Hello*
I am new the the aquarium life and I just got a 50 gallon tank. I bought 4 female guppies and 1 male, one of the female guppies I bought out of the feeder tank for .14cents because she was pregnant, she has no color on her tail at all. She just gave birth this morning, about 15 or so babies but none of them have any color, is this because the mother had no color?? Also, I really want my male to breed with the other 3 females because he is absolutely beautiful!! I heard though that females can get pregnant on their own with their stored up "sperm" from previous males, is this true?? If my females do get pregnant from my male will their babies have his markings and colors?? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, any info you could give would be really great!!

Answer
Hello Jessica,
Yes to my knowledge that is true. But also to my knowledge the babies usually take more after the mother than the father. You have to have both with fairly interesting markings for a beautiful baby.
The babies when they come out will have no color until they are mature, and I recommend you separate the babies from the parents since a lot of fish will eat their young, given the chance.
Do some research on guppy breeding so you can be an expert on this yourself.
