White mold?

Hi Richard I stumbled acrossed your website & am hoping you can help. I wasn't really sure of what I even have but I want to say it is white mold. It is on the outside of the tanks. I read one entry on how to get rid of it but what causes it and how can I prevent it from coming back? I have well water that has a conditioning treatment for PH & iron. Thank You Jennifer

Hi Jennifer

This is mineral deposits, mainly calcium residue left over when your water evaporates. You can also find it on the outside and inside of your filter. White vinegar will get it off of the tank but be careful not to get the vinegar in the water. A brush such as a toothbrush and water can be used to clean the filter. You must clean the outside of your tank as well as the inside every week. This will prevent it from coming back.
