Question
i have a 36l hexagonal tank i bought 10 male guppies a sucking loach and a pair of mollies.after a month all that is left is 1 guppy and the pair of mollies which have produced 10 fry.is the male sailfin guppy an agressive fish and responseable for the others dying

Answer
Hi Amanda

Mollies and Guppies should not be together. Male Mollies can be very aggressive, especially when breeding. However, it wasn't the Mollies that killed the others. It was way too many fish in too small of a tank, especially if this tank is only a month old and not cycled yet. A good rule when stocking a tank is one inch of fish per gallon of water. While the tank is cycling, the rule is one inch of fish per 10 gallons of water.

In a 36L, you would only be able to keep 5-6 Guppies or 3 Mollies. 10 Guppies, 2 Mollies and a Loach would need at least a 30 gallon, or 113L.

Hope this helps, good luck!
