Question
My molly fish was pregnant and gave birth last night or in the morning. We didn't see her give birth. We saw the molly fish chasing around one fry. We took the fry and put it in a big bowl for it to swim it. We are not totally sure how to take care of this little fry. How do you take care of it?

Answer
Hello Josh,
It is always a good idea to have an extra tank already set up in the house to use as a quarantine tank. In this case, it would have helped you with your fry. You can buy a ten gallon tank without a hood for around ten dollars, so I would recommend you get one soon.
And whenever you get new fish, you keep them in quarantine for a few days. That way if there is a illness or disease, it can be developed and treated outside of your main tank and not get all your other fish sick.
Keep the fry in a separate tank until it is large enough not to be eaten. You can buy baby fish food at most stores where they sell fish. Keep his water at or around 78 degrees F, and do not use a filter. Also, it would be good to have some fake floating plants in there for shelter.  It needs to be fed three times a day.
