Ammonia Burn

Question
I have had a salt water tank for about six months and it was doing very well. I recentley added more live rock and a few more fish. I did not know it would raise my ammonia level so high. I may be to late but a new fish I bought (copper banded butterfly) got burns within 3 days. I borrowed 10 gallon of water from a established tank and put him in a 10 gallon with a filter and heater. The levels and much better now but he has all the symptons and is hanging out on the bottom of the tank and swimming up once in a while. If you have any advice let me know. Thanks a bunch. Jenn

Answer
Jen,                                                         Adding live rock is like adding a few fish. The only thing you can do is a 25% water change to try to get rid of the toxicity. This should have been added when you initially set up the system. You didn't say how many pounds of live rock or how many gallons your tank is.  I would like to know the type of filtration you have on it . And Powerhead sizes and canister size please. Tina
