My beta sparky has seemed to develop a large buldge just behind his gills where his two streamers hang from.  I don't know why and I wondered if this is a bad sign.  Please help I don't want him to get sick.  Thank you for taking the time to read this.

That's actually where his stomach is. Sparky may be eating too much and/or becoming constipated. Here is a web page about it;
