QUESTION: 3.5 gallon plastic tank Brand new tank fish inside tank: beta (so far, unless i can add more fish)
water change every 1-2 weeks

My question is what other types of fish get along with betas??

ANSWER: Corydoras will get along with bettas, but thats in a larger tnak.

In a tank that small, only a single betta can be kept, no tank mates.

QUESTION: Hey thanks for the reply so soon. but how big does the tank have to be, and do i need anything special for the tank or fish besides the basic care items? thanks bye

Answer
If the tank were at least 15 gallons you could add a small school (5 or 6) panda corydoras. Not the larger varieties of cory like peppered or bronze, it would have to be pandas.

In that size tank you don't need much, however if you were to upgrade you would need a filter (an Aquaclear 30 HOB is my recommendation. Runs about $20), and a 50 watt heater (Visi-Therm stealth is my favourite, prices differ greatly from place to place).

You would also need a separate food for the cories, they will eat uneaten betta pellets but they still need a wafer of their own. Hikari Sinking wafers are my favourite.
