QuestionI have a 55 gallon tank with a red zebra cichlid, electric blue cichlid, an acei, a kenyi, an aratus, a yellow lab, a male and female kribensis, a jewel cichlid, a red peacock cichlid, and a firemouth cichlid. I was wondering with these fish if it was possible for any of them to crossbreed and how can I tell the males from the females? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks.
AnswerHi Brandon,
Crossbreeding is possible among almost any cichlids given the right circumstances. Telling the males from the females depends on exactly which species you are talking about: it is different for every species of cichlid. In some, the males and females look identical, in others they are very different.
