near death oscar

Ron,
My three year old Oscar is near death, on his side in the tank.
Two days ago he and the very large algae sucker fish got in a fight and Oscar sustained damage to both sides of his body with several scrapes and many scales missing. How can I save my beloved boy? If at all.......

Hi Cathy,
  Isolate him and put in some stress coat.  Watch for secondary infections (e.g., fungus growing on the wounds).  Treat for that if you see it with one of the anti-fungal medications.  There is hope.  Oscars are very tough fish.  As long as he is remaining upright, the odds are good.
