Question
hi Chris
i just bought my first 3 molly fish 2 female 1 male, and i just wanted to know how big a molly fish gets and do i have to seperate the male molly from the baby mollies?

Answer
Hi Sam;

Molly mothers and fathers will eat the babies. They should be separated until too big to fit in the parents' mouths, or just provide plenty of hiding places for the babies. They really like live plants such as anacharis (elodea), cabomba, hornwort, java moss, or water sprite. The plants are good for the parents too. They nibble on them.

Mollies need very, very clean water to stay healthy. Make a 25% water change at least once a week. This is different from adding water from evaporation. You can do that too, but an actual water exchange must actually be made every week.

Mollies get to be about 4 inches long.

Here are some good web pages about them;
