Growth in Tank

Question
I have a small tank with white (algae) growing up from the gravel.  Do not know what it is or how to control it.  Any ideas?  Looks like white plants growing, no color at all.

Hi Rich,
 It could be algae, but it could also be fungus.  Is there uneaten food on the bottom of the tank?   

 In either case, regular siphoning of the gravel with an aquarium gravel siphon will get rid of the problem.
