It is impossible to tell the difference between a male, and a female.  The only way to be sure is when you have a couple, and they spawn.  Oscars make excellent parents, and do not eat their young.  They take good care of them.  They need a very big tank.  One Oscar needs at least a 60 gallon tank in order to be healthy, and happy, and two Oscars need 120 gallon tank, and three 180 gallon tank, and so on.  Water changes must be make every week of 25% to prevent ammonia build up.  Ammonia is the number one killer of fish.  Check this often.
