Question
QUESTION: I have 3 babies, 3 weeks old.  I need to find them homes.  Pet Smart will not take them when they are older.  Do you have any suggestions?  I don't want to advertise...afraid they may be used for reptile food.  Thanks. Judy

ANSWER: Three weeks is too young to start selling your birds! You should start no SOONER than three MONTHS. As for advertising, use classifieds and then go down to the person's house with the bird and inspect it. If you don't feel comfortable selling the person your babies, take them home with you and try again

QUESTION: Thank you so much for your response.  No, I wouldn't even consider three weeks.  I just know that I will not be able to keep them.  I have read that the birds may fight.  My bird cage is 18" x 40" high and I think that will be ok for a couple of months.  Can they all remain in this cage?  Thank you.  Judy

Answer
It depends on the species really. My website offers Aviary compatibility but that's really just a guideline. The best way to tell is to watch your birds secretly and see if they fight. If you can't watch them without them seeing you, look for wounds or bald spots where no pin feathers are growing. If you're unsure, it's easy to mistake moulting for plucking. Plucking usually means there won't be any pin feathers showing.
You're cage does sound big enough to house your birds but if you're worried, you can put up visual barriers such as plastic plants (or real ones but do your homework on real ones first!!) that are of course sterilized. The barriers will help them set up a "territory" of sorts. Just make sure you have plenty of food and water everywhere if you're going that route
