Healthy cockatiel?

Question
I Own a 3 year old female cockatiel that appears healthy.  She does however sometimes croutch down in the lower corner of her cage between the water dish and cage wall and makes some unusual chirping sounds.  This lasts for less than a minute, then she appears normal again.  This use to happen once a day or so, now happens more often.  Any idea what's causing this.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Mike,
From what you describe, you do indeed have a healthy female. That's a classic "breeding stance". You don't mention of another bird with her, so I will just let you know that even single 'tiels do this. And, it's not uncommon for them to lay an egg or two. (which wouldn't be fertile, of course) This 'mood' should pass. If she spends too much time doing this, you may want to try to rearrange her environment. This might help to get her mind on other things. But, she is only doing what 'tiels seem to do best. And thats want to breed. *smile*
Best regards,
Linnie :)
