Parakeet laying one egg

Question
Thank you so much for your answer.
For some reason she will sit on it once it is quite in the room.  She will sit on it for about 5 minuites only and then she goes away.  How do I care care of the egg if the parakeet won't sit on it? Should I keep male in the different cage because if the male is in the cage, the female parakeet just wants to play with male, and then she won't take care of the egg? After how many day the small chick will come out from the egg?  Why the egg is so small?

Hello,
I am not sure if you are whom should I ask.  I have three parakeets (one male, two females).  One female parakeet lay one egg.  I am not sure how to take care of the egg so the baby can come out? Do you know how long does it take for the baby to come out?

Please e-mail me kamma94@yahoo.com

Hello, The egg may or may not contain a chick....not all eggs are fertile. Normaly they lay one egg and two days later another egg and two days later another until the clutch is complete. As long as she is sittng on it and its fertile it will hatch within 18/21 days.

Answer
Be sure to get a nesting box it doesnt sund like shes layed in teh box, dont bother moving this egg to the nest box thou because she will likely abondon it all together, she will check out the nesting box and if she is ready for a family they will breed and she will lay her eggs in there, If anythig remove the other female spare females are know to kill chicks/break eggs and fight with other females when enough males arent present. If she doenst sit on it unless you havea few hundred bucks for an incubater and can get it in a few hours you wont be able to safe it. budgie eggs are very small yes there about the size of a penny this is normal the chick is quite bundled up isndie the egg during the lasy week of incubation and the chick does apper it wouldnt fit back in the shell once its hatched...he chicks are around an inch long blind/featherless and very dependent on there mother or keeper for food(if the mother doesnt care for the chicks handfeeding is a must if you want to safe them). Best of luck.
