Question
Hi there,

I'm a little concerned with my new baby budgie. He's hand raised and i picked him up yesterday. I notice he seems to be having a little trouble using his bowels and sometimes i find clumps attached. Is this normal when a new baby has been brought into the family? or should i see a vet?

Answer
Yes, you should see a vet, because it is not normal for birds to have clumps of poop attached to their feathers or vent. I would also recommend calling the breeder to see if they had any kind of health guarantee with their birds (a good breeder will always offer some kind of health guarantee). Ask the breeder which vet they recommend (again- a responsible, quality breeder will have an avian vet that they use who should be knowledgeable about birds).

I hope this helps.
