Hi I got a parakeet and I got it to go on my finger with no problem and then i got another parakeet and now the other one wont go on my finger instead he bites me what do i do to get him on my finger

Hello Alex,

When adding more birds to a household the flock dynamics do change. Establishing a consistent training program with each bird will help you keep a positive relationship with each bird.In order to begin training your bird you need to be able to understand his body language and natural behaviors.  You should research training methods and natural budgie behavior. The first behavior to train is "step up." This is difficult to fully illustrate in this format. My website is below which has links to excellent resources for you.

To start training your birds to come to your finger you want to work with each bird individually in a small enclosed room. Clipping your birds' will make it easier. Reward your bird with treats, praise, and/or head scritches when he comes to you. Once your bird is more comfortable with you train him the step up command from a t stand.
