-----Question-----
hi!
my female layed eggs with a mate and 2 of them hatched. just wondering,
when i looked inside the nestbox the eggshells werent there.do you know
where they went?
-----Answer-----
Hi, the mother will normaly pick them up and toss them out the nest
box...check the cage floor for egg shell remains.

Answer
the hen could have brokent eh shells up and eaten them yes, and yes it is sfe as the shells just like chicken egg shells contain calcuim.....her eatting them might be a sign that she isnt getting enough calcium also...my hens always pushed the shells out, again be sure there is a clean(not placed where the birds can poop on it) cuttle bone avalible close by any feed dishes.
