Answer
Hi, Regina,

Merry Christmas!

Your keet can't molt every month because it takes 4-6 weeks for a complete molt from start to finish.  Some birds do molt more than once a year.  The number of times per year a bird molts depends on the environment the bird is kept in, health of the bird, diet, physiological makeup of the bird, etc.  Feather loss can also be the result of a poor diet, improper lighting, illness, etc.  The question with your bird may be whether she is actually molting or whether the feather loss can be attributed to something else.  Birds can act normal, but still be ill.  Parrots hide symptoms of illness until they can't hide them any longer.  This is when one usually notices something wrong with their bird, but by this time, it can be too late.  You may want to keep a journal of some sort and make annotations in it as to when you first notice feathers on the cage bottom, floor, etc., how many, in order to help ascertain what is going on.  If your bird is on an all seed diet, this is a poor diet for any bird.  Seed is high in fat, low in nutritional value and can affect everything in our birds.  Visit my website for information proper diet:  www.angelfire.com/falcon/birdinfo/index.html
www.birdchannel.com is also a good website

Does your bird bathe?  Bathing regularly is key to healthy feathers, as is good diet.  If your home is dry, especially during the winter, your bird may need some humidity in the air to help with feather problems.  Examine the feathers that have fallen out to see if you see any problems with them.

Come back if you have any questions or have additional information to add.
