Does my budgie like me or what?

Question
Hi again,

The question I asked earlier missed some detail. I at least THINK my bird is tame. When I approach my bird it backs away a little bit but then stands still. I put my hand in the cage and I put my finger under the abdomen and stroke it from the breastbone to the legs then it climbs up on my finger. Easy. No problem. After I bring it out of the cage, it looks like its staring into space. It doesn't bother to fly around. It doesn't even get frighten by the objects that aren't familiar I put in front of her. She doesn't really look around a lot but likes to perch on my finger all the time when she's out of the cage. Does this mean she's not very active or does it mean she's not very interested in me in being friends(getting bored already?)? Should I have another budgie with her?

Answer
I don't remember in your first question if you told me how long you've had your bird. But it can take months for a bird to get used to you and bond with you. And the way she is behaving sounds like she is nervous, but is stepping up anyways. If she is constantly looking around to see what is going on, she is trying to evaluate her surrounds (or investigate them to get used to them).

Most budgies are very active and playful, but only if they feel really secure and comfortable in their surroundings. If you do not have the time to devote to her (I recommend allowing birds out of the cage for at least 2 hours per day), then I would recommend getting her a friend. However, if you do have lots of time to spend with her, I would continue working with her and trying to get her to bond with you more. Try hand-feeding her favorite treats to show her that you like her and are not a threat.

I hope this helps.
