hi im wondering if you would know info on planting brown top millet in a pasture? i planted this in nov. and have been turning my horses out in it for a few hours a day but yesterday someone said that millet is bad for horses and i shouldnt put them back out there this is my only field so i have no where else to put them do you know if it is really that harmful to them.i did have one horse colic the other day but i dont know why she did she has been in the field for several months on and off by the way im in Al. in case this makes a difference???

This is a site from Mississippi University and it explains all the pasture grasses that can be planted.

They said that brown top is fine and to avoid German and foxtail millet.

I would have to say the colic you just experienced is probably not form the millet, more likely the temp changes we are all experiencing.  Please ask your vet about colic if you have any other concerns.
