Question
hello ma'am. presently my weight is 64kgs. my instructor told me that if i start riding horses, my weight reduces drastically. is he right? if yes, may i know how?

Answer
Riding IS exercise.......so you are "using up" calories, but if you eat fattening food or too much food or that would be your only exercise, you would not necessarily lose weight.

It is not a magical way of losing weight, but it could certainly help as you are exercising.

Many horse people lose much more weight by doing all the work involved with horses, i.e. mucking out stalls, walking and cooling out horses, carrying water buckets, grooming, etc.

Do you help with the care of the horses?

There is a chart somewhere...( I will look for it ), which states how many calories are burned while walking, posting trot, etc.
I will try to find it.

There are many overweight riders. We have a well-known clinician in the States..(I am watching him all weekend) who will not teach anyone who is overweight.....(which you are not).

It IS a way for an overweight person to be more active as long as they are not too heavy for the horse.
