Question
holding reins gently
holding reins gently
hello, why shouldnt i hold the reins tightly and stiffly, why should i hold them gently? if i am wrong, please correct me. you are my teacher.

Answer
When you are holding the reins, think of holding baby birds in your hands.

You do not hold them tight enough to injure the birds, (the horse feels this tension in his mouth) or loose enough so that they could fly away. This feels like insufficient contact (feel) to the horse.
