Answer
Hi Jayne

Thanks for the questionand I will try to answer this one.

I know the problems of overweight ponies, having had a few in the past !

it can be quite hard to keep their wight down to a normal size but there are a few things you can try to make her happy to go back out again.

Firstly don't give her all her feed in the stable, keep a handful or two back so that she has a 'treat to go out with........... if reason won;t work then a bit of bribery is acceptable!

The different route to the field isn't really an option as she knows whatever route you take she is going back to her field............so a direct route is the best thing.

If you can get one of those treat balls, where you can hide things in it for her, and let her play with it in her field,  don;t have to stuff it with  lots of j=high calorie treats  you can get low calorie ones and the natural inquistitiveness of ahorse will make her wantto investigate it and play with it.

Like I said try  keeping ahandful of feed back and taking it with you as  a reward for her going back to her field with you, she will get the message,
