adjusting stirrups
adjusting stirrups
hello, my height is 5feet 6inches. when i mount on the horse, my instructor adjusted the stirrups. so till where should he adjust the stirrups, i mean, till the rigcage, or till the bottom of the rig cage. i attached an image. edit it, show my till where can the stirrups be adjusted on the horse according to my height.

Answer
Your stirrup length will vary (differ).

If you are riding dressage or western, or flatwork with your jumpers, your stirrups will be longer. If you are doing a lot of sitting trot, and want to use your seat, your stirrups will
be longer.

However. there should always be a bend in the hip joint, knee, and ankle, but it will vary with what you are doing.

In jumping, the stirrup will be adjusted approximately at your ankle; in dressage above the sole of your boot.

The height of the horse does not really matter. Once in a while if I am on a very short horse I may put the stirrups up a hole higher so my calf is a bit better placed.(I am fairly tall.)

By the way, this is a bad picture of a horse. He is very unhappy and confused and the bit is
hurting him. I see no advantage in whatever the trainer is trying to do.
