Question
Thank-you so much for getting back to me!

He is good on the ground, except for me picking his feet up - I just persist until I get them up to clean his hooves.

But he is not good about lounging - I have tried to lounge him before & he always ends up lounging me - I've kind of given up doing it, because he has tried to kick out at the trainer who has lounged him, & after a couple of goes at her, he settles down.  But we have not worked on this hardly at all.  I don't have a roundpen, we are just lounging him on a leadline.  Lately I've just been walking him on a loose rein.

He is good about leading on the ground & doesn't push me or anything - follows behind my right shoulder & is very good about it.

Answer
Hello,
See if you can send him out to lounge and immediately lean and look at his hind end and draw the rope back to you, then pet him. If he ends up lounging you it means he is leaving you in his mind first, so hold your feet still, send him out and let him go a little bit and if he starts to pull or be silly again lean and look to his hind end while you draw or even bump him with the rope. Think of teaching him how to respond to pressure with everything you do.
