Foal Faces

Question
I know that foals make faces similar to yawning in order to communicate an understanding of another horses dominance. My Friesian is now 6 years old and ho continues to make those faces if I ask him to do something such as let me look at his teeth. I know that Friesians are an immature breed, but I think these baby behaviors should have stopped by now. Am I wrong? Is there anything I can do to stop them?

Answer
Hi Bri,
Your horse is showing you that he thinks that you are the herd leader, and that he respects you. Many people work to get such a behavior from a horse, due to the fact that the horse will be easier to train. Unless those behaviors are interfering with what you do, then I would suggest that you ignore them.
