foamy sweat

foamy sweat   hello ma'am, is this foamy sweat on the horse neck? i found 90% of our racehorses with foamy sweat formed around the neck, point of shoulder, near the girth, near the breastplate passing around the chest. why this is formed, is this due to skin sensitivity or tension in the animal?

I am pretty sure it happens when there is a change in the body chemistry of a horse in exertion, but I have to look it up in my books tomotrrow. So there will be a follow up to this question.

We have Amish horse in our area who offen suffer extreme exertion and in hot weather will have the same thing happen,as do event horses, etc.
