My mare forgets to stop.

I have a fantastic QH mare. She is about 7 and I have owned her for 2 or 3 years now. She has come a long way in barrels and I have started competing on her. Well the problem is that she doesn't want to stop when there is any stress on her. I don't have any problems with her when we aren't competing. And it isn't a problem yet but it is getting worse and I don't want a run away on my hands. What do you recommend?

The goal would be to not make the barrels stressful. Walk your pattern, start your pattern and then stop without finishing it, think about all the things you can do to make her follow your suggestion- not follow the assumed pattern.
If you can get creative in changing your pattern she will follow you better.
