flat feet horse stride

Question
hello ma'am, i believe that a flat footed horse would land with its foot flat on the ground rather than landing on its heels first. am i correct?

Answer
Rohit,

No. not really.
The way a horse's hoof leaves the ground is dependent on many things. Yes, the shape of the hoof, but also the angle of the hoof. How the hoof is trimmed....the skill and understanding of the farrier.

General conformation can enter into this, as well as the way the horse is ridden. We have
Saddlebred horses who have had by artificial means the way they travel completely changed for
reasons of their owner's ego and money.

The same holds true with badly trained Western Pleasure horses.

So just the hoof being flat is not really the cause.
