My horses behavior

I have read the notification. I was recently gifted a horse from my very good friend who bought him off our neighbor, he seemed fine as I led him around for a while. The behaviors started when I went to groom him. He would stiffen and even rear at some noises. I wrote this off as him being cautious about the news surroundings. I took his halter off and let him out with some off my other horses, when I returned for him, it got worse. He wouldn't let me get near me and wouldn't come around me, when I get him to come forth with some treats, I can't even touch him or he flinched away and bites, then runs. I tried to catch him, using many methods referee to me by many trainers, but he only got worse, rearing up at me when he even saw a halter or rope. I don't know what to do, I know he wasn't mistreated before coming here and I don't know why he would react this way, if I can't find a way to stop it, my parents are going to sell him. I really have grown to love him, he's quite nice when you eventually be a halter on him, despite some slight disrespect, please help!

You are causing the horse to do what it does - since you don't understand how this can be is why you can't fix it. You need to invest several hours and read my website, start with my Horsemanship page- you have to learn pressure and release, fear and flight response, herd behavior, horse communication, how horses respond to pressure, what is release, what is draw, understanding that giving release with bad timing teaches a horse the wrong response.  Horses just respond to what we do -

When we do it right = they do it right
When we do it wrong = they do it wrong.

Until you understand this you will have the same problems with most all horses.

The fact that you think I could fix this or answer this over an email so that you do not see the complexity of the problem. Until you read my site about fear, draw, pressure, fight or flight and the 1000 of other things to go into horse care and handling, you will not really understand this answer.

It is up to you, you can either keep asking others for the secret answer, or you invest, read and learn so you can fix yourself and improve your communication with the horse so you don't need me or a bunch of other so called trainers that may or may not know a little more than you do right now.
