Question
hi my name is heather i have a 3 year old quater horse mare and i am still training her she turned three in march. is it going to be ok if my mom leases her out to someone that is still green at riding or will confuse her at how i ride and how they ride. And will it hurt her to be falling down on her knees because of her triping. oh and my mom says that she will stop triping as she gets riden or will this effect her in the future. One more question she all of a sudden is getting really sinchy and really grumpy. she tried biteing me and she gave me a buck as she was going into a canter. thanks heather

Answer
Hi Heather,

I was start by having vet give her a physical, it sounds like there might be something wrong for her to suddenly start biting you and being grumpy when you ride her. Also, tripping is not normal and she can hurt not only herself but her rider if that continues. Be sure your vet, check her back and feet too. She may need some corrective shoeing or chiropractor work.

As far as letting someone else ride her, my theory is green + green = Black & Blue :)  It's never a good idea for a green rider to work a green horse, withough the supervision of an experience trainer. And you are right, too many riders on a green horse, can really confuse them, different cues, different riding styles, etc.

Best Wishes, Jen
