Pouring the ground

Question
Hi
I bought a 2nd horse to kept my other horse company when we moved fields. I bought a 5 yr old horse who has been in Uk for 1 year with the lady I bought her from, she was stabled most of the time and when I viewed her she was as quiet as a lamb.
I've had her home for about 6 weeks now, turning her out 24/7 with my other horse but when I bring them both in to have a pampering the new horse is insistant on pouring the ground as hard as she possibly can!
so bad that at points she almost looks like a dog digging a hole.
(meanwhile my other horse is standing still eating her haynet which they have both been given).
we & the 2 horses have only been at our new address for 2 weeks so i'm hoping it will wear off in time. Yesterday I left the new horse tied up safely in the stable that the other horse was standing outside, whilst I groomed etc, then went and poop scooped - after 1/2hr grooming the other horse then 10 mins poop scooping (out of sight) the new horse did stop. Do you think this is because of being unsettled due to moving fields twice in a month & I just need to bring her in every day and ignor her until she stops pouring then reward her for standing still?

Answer
Hello,
I think you answered your own question! I always just think of it as a busy mind, let her sit and work her way through it. And remember horses that work all day for a living can spend quite a bit of time just waiting so you are doing her a favor getting her on the payrole.
Best Wishes
