RE: 11 year old gelding

Thanks!  It's helping - I still can't get him to trot on the lounge, though. The main problem is - I would like to do more than walk him when I am riding him!  What do I do when he trots & pulls his head down really low & pulls my hands forward, I try to urge him forward but he keeps doing it & it is very difficult & intimidating to get him to keep going & keep my balance at the same time.  The trainer said to give him little half-halts on either side of the rein (one at a time) & kick him but he ignores me.  Any suggestions?

You will have to refresh my memory on your previous question.  This question did not show up as a follow-up with the first question attached....so I don't know what is "helping".
