resisting
hello ma'am, is this horse resisting or getting pulled strongly at mouth? what is the problem with this horse?

Answer
Rohit,

Sorry for the delay...I thought I had answered this.

The only way the jockey can control a racing Thoroughbred is mainly by pulling on the reins attached to the bit in the horse's mouth.

There can be no real subtlety as he cannot use his seat and legs to help the horse understand what he wants.

The horse is not really resisting, just reacting to the discomfort in his mouth.

In a correctly ridden dressage horse the rider controls the horse from back to front ....
correctly controlling the haunches first.

This cannot really be done in a jockey seat.
