bit for a young horse

What type of bit should I be using on a horse new to training? I have a D ring snaffle would that work?

Answer
Bits are very much a personal choice.  A D ring would be suitable provided the horse is happy with it.  I use FM (also known as Fulmer or Australian Snaffles) and eggbuts with my young horses.  If the horse is senstive then a vulcanite (rubber) bit my be good.
