QuestionI recently acquired a young red slider turtle, and after a few weeks, noticed that he had a small white raised sore on the back of his head. The sore is right at the start of the neck collar, and I am concerned for his health. He is still active, eats normally, and doesn't seem lethargic.
Is a visit to the vet warrented and should I quarentine the little fella?
AnswerIt does not sound like a big deal... at least not yet. Swab the sore area with some Betadine solution, and let it dry for a bit, then smear on some antibiotic ointment and let that dry for an hour or so. Repeat daily until the sore is healing.
