baby snapping turtle

my turtle keeps popping his head out of the water and opening his mouth and his throat wide like he is tryin to get somethin out of his throat i havent seen him do this before and ive had him for a couple months now. and when he is sitting under the water he will stretch his neck out really long as if tryin to swallow something as well....could something be stuck in his throat and wat should i do?

Well... sitting at the bottom of shallow water in hiding is normal. When they are doing that, they reach their neck up and grab a quick breath of air without moving much so they can stay hidden.

Is this what it is doing?
