Question
i resently got a Red eared slidder it is about 2 to 3 inches. I have a 10 gallon tank with a basking area and about 4 inches of water, and a heating light over the basking area. i am going to buy a uva/uvb lamp next week. I have a few questions, do i leave the lamp on all the time, how deep should the water be in the tank, and my tuurtle seems to not be eating. CAN U HELP ME PLEASE?

Answer
Hello Maggie,
The water depth should be twice the ammount of the shell. So a 2 inch turtle should have a maximum (no more then) four inches of water.
3 inch turtle should have no more then 6 inches of water.

UVA/UVB is extremely important. Do not get a compact bulb the best kind you can buy is a REPTI-SUN 5.0 even better is the REPTI-SUN 10.0
Tube bulbs

The basking light and the UV light should be on 12 hours a day.

be sure you have correct temperatures inside and outside of the water.

It is common that a new pet reptile won't eat for the first week of bringing them home. Be sure you are feeding her in the water not on the land area and the food items are small enough for her.

What all are you feeding?

Good luck
