Question
was given slider turtle about a year ago yesterday noticed the tail was thicker than usual and the vent seems to be opening wider and more often than usual cant see if something is there or not is this something to worry about?

Answer
I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a green eared slider. I'm sure you mean red eared.

Could be something to worry about. Could be an impaction, egg binding, or partial prolapse of some kind...but how can I know? You didn't provide any of the required information. Only a vet can tell you that after looking at it, so if you have a concern I suggest a  vet visit.
