turtel makeing a weird noise

i have had my turtle for about 3 or 4 years and he has never made a noise, and all of a sudden today he started making a noise. it kind of sounds like a baby duck. any way i think he is a boy and i don't know if its some kind of matting noise or something. he makes the noise the most when he puts his head down. any way i would appreciate it if you can help me out.

Turtles make a wide range of noises in the right situations, but it would help here to know what kind of turtle yours is.

Make sure he can breathe OK, and that there are no bubbles, foam, etc. at the mouth and nose- if everything is clear and he is still making the noise, it is PROBABLY just a typical courthip sort of display that he is practicing.
