Question
I have a small mud or musk turtle and I have been keeping her in a big plastic container with about enough water to not cover his hold back and he was doing good but now she has two eggs and they are in the water and I don't know what will happen to them. should I go and get mud to put in the container so they will not drown or what I am at a lost and do not know what will happen to them. please help

Answer
I am curious as to why you are a- unsure of the species, and b- keeping it in such shallow water.

You can identify the species here: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/world_of_turtles/

And find cares here: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/caresheets.htm

As for the eggs, stressed turtles often lay infertile eggs, and eggs laid in the water are always infertile. You can save them if you wish (in a jar of preservative, for example) or you can just toss them.

Once you get your turtle in a better habitat, this should not happen very often.

Good luck!
