yellow sliders skin.

Question
I bought 2 yellow bellied sliders 2 weeks ago and the larger one has wispy skin like strips hanging off his limbs and neck. When he basks you cannot see it. He seems in good health other than that and does seems to have grown since i got him. The other turtle has no signs of shedding. Worried it may not be shedding but a skin condition. Any experiance of this?

It is probably a normal reaction to the stress of changing habitats, but it MAY be...

- growing too fast
- dietary problem, usually vitamins
- water quality issue- dirty, chemically, etc.
- lighting issue- wrong kind, etc.

Check on a site like http://www.austinsturtlepage.com or http://www.redearslider.com (a related species with identical cares) to check the basic cares and make sure there are no problems in that area.
