red ear sliders are fighting

Question
Hi, we have four, male red ear sliders and one of them is constantly biting at another one. he has caused the other turtle to bleed. what is causing him to do this, and what can we do.

Answer
The most common two causes of this aggression are too small of a tank, and a turtle that is a bully.

Turtles like space, and become stressed in small habitats. We often suggest about 10 gallons of water per inch of total turtle shell length. So, 4 4" turtles would need about 160 gallons of water for each to feel it has enough territory.

If the habitat is already large enough, then you have a bully, and there is not much you can do other than seperate it from the others.
