ive got a 4 year old red eared slider and i need your help
ive been googling this question and getting all dirrent answers.my dad wants to get rid of my turtle.i live in cambridge.HE WANTS TO LET IT GO IN THE GRAND RIVER if i dont find ia home 4 it. will it survive.will it be able to get food plz answer soon

This is many miles from the Red-ear's native habitat, which only goes as far north as mid-Illinois or Indiana. It will probably be OK... but...

1. Sliders like ponds and lakes instead of rivers. They do not like moving water.

2. Some of the lakes in parks, etc. in most cities have populations of Red-ears that have been released. Give a city park pond a try.

3. Red-ears generally do well when released, but it is safest to release them near people because they tend to pick up illness from people and if you release it in near a real wild population, they can get sick.
