Turtle Vitamins

Hi Mark,

Could you tell me how often to use turtle vitamins? I have a bottle of Reptivite and the instructions say to use it every other day. However, various reading material says to use vitamins once per week. The prepared food I usually offer seems chaulked full of vitamins too. I just don't want to overdo it.

The biggest lesson you should learn from all the places you are getting it should be that no two people agree on squat. There is no absolute science to raising turtles.

As for vitamins, I would provide a dose consistant with the size of the daily feeding. If you are following a varying meal size schedule, I'd dose the normal meals the normal amount, the light meals lightly, etc.

If you are offering a healthy, balanced turtle diet, vitamins are less important. As winter settles in, however, they will help a lot more since fresher foods will be harder to get.
