Question
My son found a baby Florida Softshell in a parking lot. It is really tiny. I live on a lake but I know something will eat it if I put it in there while it is this small. I have put it in a tank with 2 Florida Cooters (they are also small). I would like to know what I can feed it and how to care for it until it will be safe to put into our lake. We do have Florida Softshells in our lake. Right now it spends a lot of time on the dock under the lights. Thank you.

You won't answer me Because: You will not answer questions related to wild caught animals...meanwhile you will answer questions about them if they are hurt, ill or in danger. This baby turtle was found baking on the pavement at a busy mall. It would have been run over if he didn't grab it. There is no water there and he didn't want it to die.

-I am happy you felt obligated to help, and want the best for this turtle. I did not understand your full situation. Many people come to me saying the were at the lake and decided to take him home because he was "walking towards the road" or "200 ft from the nearest water source" It is normal for turtles to wander off if they are not welcome in their home.

Sadly many of them die and I do not intend to come off as rude when saying you should release it.

I apologize if I came off wrong. I get questions every day about selfish people not thinking of the animal.

This is why I refuse to answer these types of questions. But I am more then happy to help if your intentions are to help and keep these animals healthy.

-Good luck
