QuestionMy son got this snake almost three months ago. There has been a couple of
occasions when his snake has thrown up his pinky mice. Yesterday he fed him
two pinkies and he threw both of them up. Today he fed him one and he also
threw that one up. Of course he is very worried. Otherwise the snake appears
healthy. Can you tell us any possible reasons for this?
AnswerHey Michele
If he still appears healthy and is still pooping out the urea (The white part of the feces) then I wouldn't worry about it just yet. This time of the year, many snakes will not eat period and this may explain why your little one can't keep down a meal. Keep trying, and remember not to hold him within 72 hours of feeding just to make sure the whole meal is safely digesting.
If it occurs again, restrict handling, adjust the temperature so that the cool end is about 75 and the warm end 82-86 degrees, try feeding smaller items, make sure the cage is clean and the food is fresh. If it persists after another 2 weeks, it's time for a vet visit.
