bite if I go near her as I really want to hold her but she makin me nervous my other one was
never like this. she is also around 35cm do you know how old she is the seller told me 2/3 months also what wil be the best way to handle her as everytime I go to pick her up she does something to put me off
thanks

Answer
Hi Leasha,

lots of young corn snakes are very skitty when young and can be hard to handle and keep in the same spot. the s-shape and open mouth is a warning behaviour and she will bite if you go to pick her up. judging by her size 2-3 months old sounds about right and at this size, getting bitten doesnt hurt in the slightest.

i would advise leaving your snake alone with no handling for a whole month, only going into the tank to replace water or to feed. after the month is up try to pick her up by scooping her up from underneath about a third of the way down her body. its best to aproach her not head on, try and pick her up from behind. if she wont let you near her you can buy a small snake hook and use that for a while before trying to handle her with your hands.

with time she almost certainly will calm down. corn snakes generally are well tempered animals.

i hope this helps
